Draggen.io supports vault storage on our secure cloud across all paid tiers using the Obsidian LiveSync plugin. Say goodbye to the complexities of iCloud, inconsistent sync times, and expensive third-party mobile apps. By using Draggen, you get instant synchronization and reliable conflict resolution. Just enable the plugin, add your Draggen credentials, and you’re ready to go.
1. Choose Your Plan
Sign up for any of the paid tiers on Draggen.io. Even our most affordable subscription includes everything you need to start syncing your Obsidian vaults.
2. Get Your Credentials
Navigate to the Integrations tab on your Draggen Dashboard. Your credentials should be generated for you automatically. If they aren't visible, simply click the button to initialize your vault.

3. Install the LiveSync Plugin
To get started in Obsidian, follow these steps:
Enable Community Plugins
- Open Settings and navigate to Community plugins.
- Turn off Restricted mode if it is currently enabled.

Download and Enable
- Click Browse and search for "LiveSync" (it is often listed as Self-hosted LiveSync).
- Click Install, then click Enable.

4. Configure LiveSync in Obsidian
Now, connect Obsidian to your Draggen cloud:
- Upon enabling, the self hosted LiveSync wizard should appear. Select "I am setting this up for the first time". If the wizard doesn't show up, navigate to Settings → LiveSync.

- Select "Enter the server information manually" and then optionally enable end to end encryption. Draggen.io already handles data encryption for you using your account credentials, but end to end encryption can offer an additional layer of security.
- Select CouchDB and then enter the following information from your Draggen Dashboard:
- Server URI
- Username / Password
- Database Name

- Run the built-in setup checks. While names may vary slightly by version, you should typically:
- Click Test connection.
- Click Create DB (Perform this only once, on your very first device).
- Click Check DB / Fetch configuration.
- You may see some warnings such as "You are not the admin of this database", and a set of other warnings - you can safely ignore these and press next on each step. If you are asked to fix issues in your configuration, you can simply press "Fix" unless you specifically want a different configuration.
5. Enable Sync Options
To ensure your notes stay up to date without manual intervention, we recommend enabling:
- Auto sync
- Sync on save
6. Your First Sync
This is a critical step to ensure your data is handled correctly. Pick one device to be your "source of truth" (the device containing the notes you want to keep).
On your primary device:
- Initialize the database and "push" your vault contents up to the cloud.
On your secondary devices:
- Connect to the same database and "pull" the data down to the device.
- Important: Avoid having two different devices "push" different content into an empty database at the same time, as this can lead to avoidable sync conflicts.
7. Recommended Settings
For the most reliable experience, look for these options within the LiveSync settings:
- Sync on save / Auto sync: Enable these for real-time updates.
- Use revision history: This helps you recover data if a conflict occurs.
- Conflict handling: Set this to "Keep both" or "Create conflict copies" to ensure no data is overwritten.
- Exclude patterns: Use this to prevent cache folders and large files from bloating your database.
Common Excludes
We recommend adding these patterns to your exclude list:
.obsidian/cache.trash(optional)- Large export folders containing PDFs or videos if you do not wish to sync them.
